Tottenham Searches for Replacement for Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario
Tottenham Hotspur is actively looking for a new goalkeeper as Guglielmo Vicario has been their undisputed No.1 since joining from Empoli in 2023. However, Vicario has not played since undergoing groin surgery in mid-March. In his absence, Antonin Kinsky has stepped in and delivered strong performances in goal.
Reports indicate that Inter Milan is keen on signing Vicario as they seek a new No.1 to replace Yann Sommer. Recently, it was revealed that Vicario has reached a full agreement to join Inter Milan this summer, pending a fee agreement with Spurs. The expected transfer fee is around €18 million.
Roberto De Zerbi is in search of a press-resistant, calm, and composed goalkeeper with strong technical abilities, and Vicario does not meet these criteria. While Kinsky has performed well, the club will need a more commanding presence in goal. Consequently, Vicario’s possible exit will leave Spurs needing a new No.1 this summer.
Tottenham Faces Competition for Juventus Goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio
Recent reports suggest that De Zerbi is interested in signing Michele Di Gregorio from Juventus. Should Spurs manage to avoid relegation, pursuing the Italian goalkeeper could be a viable option.
Di Gregorio spent a loan period at Juventus from Monza during the 2024/25 season and signed a permanent deal last summer. Despite inconsistent performances this season, he has kept 14 clean sheets, making him an attractive option for teams looking to bolster their goalkeeping line-up.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool has expressed interest in signing Di Gregorio as a potential replacement for their No.1, Alisson Becker. The Reds have previously inquired about him.
Alisson, the most expensive Brazilian goalkeeper in history, has been a key player for Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in 2018. However, the 33-year-old is currently sidelined with an injury and has been linked with a move to Italy, particularly by Juventus, who are considering him to potentially take over Di Gregorio’s position.
This situation could lead to a possible exchange deal involving the goalkeepers, complicating Tottenham’s pursuit of Di Gregorio. De Zerbi is known to admire his compatriot and wishes to have him replace Vicario next season, but Liverpool’s interest adds a layer of complexity. Additionally, Juventus eyeing Alisson makes it all the more challenging for Tottenham to pursue Di Gregorio, suggesting that exploring alternative options for strengthening their goalkeeping unit may be prudent this summer.
