Former Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf has received a suspended sentence for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife and children. The 45-year-old Senegalese footballer was taken to court by his former wife, Valerie Bishop, over unpaid child support that amounts to nearly £14,000.

The court’s decision comes after legal proceedings initiated by Bishop, which concluded with an order for Diouf to compensate her and their 17-year-old daughter, who resides with her mother. The ruling included a suspended prison sentence for the ex-footballer, reflecting the court’s stance on his financial obligations.

El-Hadji Diouf had a notable career at Liverpool from 2002 to 2004, having joined the club from French side Lens for €15 million. During his tenure, he made 80 appearances, netting 6 goals and providing 13 assists. Additionally, Diouf gained fame for his performances with the Senegal national team during the 2002 World Cup, where he was recognized as one of the standout players.
