Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira was involved in a disturbing incident in Istanbul, where he was assaulted by a stranger on the street. The attacker, who is reportedly a fan of Torreira’s partner, Ipek B., punched the 30-year-old Uruguayan in the face during a walk with her.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that Torreira initially believed the man approaching him was simply an enthusiastic fan seeking a photograph. However, the situation escalated unexpectedly when the assailant struck Torreira, causing him to fall to the ground. Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene, detaining the perpetrator.

Upon questioning, the attacker disclosed that he had been communicating with Ipek B. on social media and became enraged after she rejected him. He admitted to losing control after seeing photos of her with Torreira, leading him to confront the footballer at the Rixos hotel, where he physically assaulted him.

“I had platonic feelings for her, but she was upset with me, so she previously obtained a restraining order against me in court.

However, when I saw several photos of her with Lucas Torreira on Instagram, I started to feel hatred towards him.

Yesterday, after learning via Instagram that Torreira and his family were at the Rixos hotel, I took a taxi there in a fit of anger and, as soon as I saw him, punched him in the face,” the assailant stated.

Reports indicate that Ipek B. had already obtained a court order preventing the attacker from contacting her. Torreira has not yet made any public remarks regarding the incident.
