Chelsea’s Joao Pedro Impresses with 20 Goals in Debut Season Amid Barcelona Interest
Joao Pedro has quickly shown why Chelsea invested heavily in him. The Brazilian has produced 20 goals and six assists during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
At 24, his long-term value is clear, but Chelsea may now face early interest from Barcelona. The Spanish club are assessing forward options before the summer window.
Barcelona need to plan beyond Robert Lewandowski, who is set to leave at the end of this season, and the Brazilian striker is now one of the names being discussed.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Joao Pedro has told his agents he would like to move to Barcelona if their interest becomes concrete.
That does not mean a transfer is close. The same report states Chelsea do not want to sell him, while Xabi Alonso plans to assess him after taking charge, which could change his plans.
Julian Alvarez has long been admired by Barcelona to replace Lewandowski, but Atletico Madrid would be expected to resist any approach from a local rival, demanding an astronomical fee.
Joao Pedro would not be simple either. Chelsea signed him from Brighton in a £60m package, and his debut-season numbers have likely increased his value. His contract also runs until 2033, giving Chelsea greater control.
In that context, Barcelona may be able to tempt the player, but agreeing a fee with the Blues would be the larger challenge.
For now, Pedro’s stance gives the Spanish giants encouragement. On the other hand, Alonso’s position, his long contract and the likely cost still make the deal difficult before the World Cup.
