Marcus Rashford Aims for Permanent Stay at Barcelona After Impressive Loan Spell

Marcus Rashford has had a fantastic first season with Barcelona this year, hoping that his loan spell will be made permanent this summer.

The Manchester United attacker has been in fine form, grabbing 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 games, helping them to win the LaLiga title for a second year running.

It’s understood that Hansi Flick is pleased with Rashford and is keen to keep him next season; however, there are complications with his transfer.

The Spanish giants have the option to buy Rashford for £26 million, having included the optional buy clause in the loan deal last summer; however, they are now unwilling to pay the full fee.

Barcelona are understood to be considering either another loan deal for the winger or negotiating a lower rate, something United are refusing to do.

Rashford Declines Interest from José Mourinho and Real Madrid

The delays in making his move to Barca permanent have opened the door for other suitors, with Jose Mourinho looking to disrupt the deal and bring him to Real Madrid when he becomes their next permanent manager this summer.

However, Mundo Deportivo has reported that Rashford is against this, with sources close to the 28-year-old stating he is “one hundred per cent” looking to stay at Camp Nou with Barcelona.

Even before he joined Barcelona, a move to Camp Nou was understood to be a “dream” for Rashford, so with his taste of playing for Barca and winning LaLiga, it’s no surprise it’s his priority to stay.

He also has a potential boost with staying at the Spanish giants, as Robert Lewandowski is leaving the Catalan side this summer, necessitating a capable replacement.

Given his routine contributions this season, Rashford could set his sights on being the long-term replacement for Lewandowski, especially since he started his career as a striker before being positioned on the wing.
