Yaya Toure, the former Ivory Coast international, has been appointed as the head coach of Slovan Bratislava, marking his first official managerial role. The announcement was made on Saturday, June 13, and Toure has signed a three-year contract with the Slovakian club.

Prior to this appointment, Toure held various positions as an assistant coach. Upon signing his contract, the 43-year-old expressed his enthusiasm for the new role.

“I am very happy and excited. Honestly, I can’t wait for us to start working together on Monday. My predecessor deserves great respect for what he has achieved with Slovan. I want to build on that whilst bringing something new and unique of my own,” he stated. Toure emphasized his passion for football and excitement at managing a club with a significant history and ambitions.

He also noted that he recently watched Slovan Bratislava compete in a Champions League match against Manchester City, highlighting the club’s top-flight status.
