FIFA has officially designated Australian referee Alireza Faghani to oversee the highly anticipated Group I match between Senegal and France. The match is set to take place on 16 June, following the tournament’s kickoff on 11 June.
The encounter will commence at 7 pm GMT at MetLife Stadium. Faghani, who has significant refereeing experience, will be in charge of key decisions throughout the match.
He will be supported by fellow Australian officials George Lakrindis and Andrew Lindsay, forming a trio of referees for this encounter.
Senegal finds itself in Group I alongside France, Norway, and Iraq as they compete in the ongoing World Cup.
