FIFA regulations prevent Senegal from displaying the star on their shirts during the upcoming World Cup, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July 2026, across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As the 2021 African champions, Senegal is unable to show their continental title star due to these rules.
FIFA allows only those nations that have won a World Cup to wear stars on their jerseys during the tournament. Consequently, the Teranga Lions will not be able to showcase their achievement from the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 during the prestigious event.
Senegal will begin their World Cup campaign on 16 June against France in Group I.
