Manchester United is actively pursuing transfer opportunities this summer, having reached a full agreement with Italian club Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. This move aligns with manager Michael Carrick’s objective to strengthen the midfield ahead of the upcoming season, with the 25-year-old swiftly emerging as the club’s main transfer target.

Details: Although it appeared that the transfer announcement was imminent, the Manchester Evening News reported that these developments have been contradicted. According to their sources, no medical examinations were scheduled for the weekend, resulting in a delay for Manchester United’s management as they await further news.

The official completion of the transfer has hit a snag due to unexpected changes in Ederson’s international commitments. Initially left out of Brazil’s primary squad for the 2026 World Cup, he received a late call-up following a muscle injury to defender Wesley, necessitating his participation with the national team.

Consequently, Manchester United will only be able to finalize the deal and complete all necessary paperwork after Brazil concludes their World Cup campaign in North America.
