The Algerian football governing body has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the officiating during the recent World Cup match against Argentina. The game, held on 17 June in Group J, has come under scrutiny following controversial decisions made by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak, which sparked outrage among Algerian fans.

In response to the perceived injustices, the Algerian Football Federation has reportedly decided to file a formal complaint with FIFA. Officials argue that the refereeing errors significantly affected the outcome of the match, which Algeria lost 3-0. Central to their complaint is a foul committed by Argentine star Lionel Messi against Algerian defender Aïssa Mandi.

Footage circulating on social media highlights the moment Messi made contact with Mandi’s calf, leading many supporters to contend that a red card should have been issued. The Federation has also raised concerns about a separate incident involving Alexis Mac Allister’s challenge on Ibrahim Maza, which resulted in Maza being elbowed in the face.
