Maxence Lacroix, a defender for the France national football team, has made a generous decision to treat the residents of his hometown during the 2026 World Cup. The 26-year-old player will cover the costs of pizza for fans gathering to watch France’s matches together in Ajat.

This World Cup marks Lacroix’s first appearance on this prestigious stage. Although he was born near Paris, he spent his childhood in Ajat, a small village in the Dordogne region with a population of around 300.

Local residents typically gather at the village community center for collective screenings of the matches. With Lacroix’s initiative, these viewings will now include complimentary pizza for attendees, adding a special touch to the celebrations.

The mayor of the commune revealed that the initiative was proposed directly by Lacroix through his mother, reflecting his desire to give back to the community he grew up in, even as he participates in the biggest tournament of his career.
