Pressure Mounts for Alvaro Carreras Amid Tensions at Real Madrid

Standards remain high at Manchester United, especially when it comes to players who have passed through the club’s system.

Even those who move on are often shaped by the environment at Old Trafford, where professionalism and discipline are non-negotiable.

That spotlight has now shifted onto one former United defender currently facing a turbulent spell abroad.

Alvaro Carreras has broken his silence amid growing reports of tension during his time at Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old, who joined Madrid from Benfica last summer, has found himself under increasing pressure after losing his place in the starting lineup and being left unused in recent matches.

Reports in Spain suggested that an altercation took place earlier this year involving teammate Antonio Rudiger, with claims that the German defender struck Alvaro Carreras during a dressing room incident.

Alvaro Carreras Issues Statement

While Carreras did not directly name the player, he did confirm that an issue had occurred.

“In recent days, certain insinuations and comments have emerged about me that do not reflect reality,” Carreras wrote on Instagram.

“My commitment to this club and to the coaches I have worked with has been absolute from day one, and it will continue to be so.”

“Since I returned, I have always worked with the utmost professionalism, respect and dedication. I have fought very hard to fulfill my dream of coming back home.”

“Regarding the incident with a teammate, it is an isolated issue of no relevance that is already resolved,” Carreras explained.

“My relationship with the entire team is very good.”

Despite his attempt to calm the situation, questions remain over his role at the Bernabeu.

Carreras has made 38 appearances this season, contributing two goals and two assists, but his recent absence from the pitch has raised concerns about his standing within the squad.

His contract runs until 2031, making an immediate exit unlikely, even as scrutiny around his performances and attitude continues to grow.

The timing could hardly be worse for Madrid.

With their Champions League campaign already over and the La Liga title race slipping away, this weekend’s El Clasico against Barcelona has taken on huge importance as they try to salvage their season.

Carreras’ journey to this point includes a notable spell at Manchester United.

He joined the club from Real Madrid’s youth setup in 2020 and became a regular in the academy, even training with the senior squad on multiple occasions.

Loan spells away followed, but he never made a competitive first-team appearance before eventually moving on permanently.

Now back in Spain, the defender finds himself under intense scrutiny once again.

With pressure mounting and a crucial fixture looming, Alvaro Carreras will need to show resilience.
