Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has officially announced that he will step down from his position at the end of the current season. This confirmation came during a pre-match press conference ahead of the team’s upcoming clash with Sevilla.

Details: The 43-year-old took the reins of the team during a crucial period, reflecting on his four-month tenure in charge of Los Blancos. Having dedicated 20 years to the club, Arbeloa leaves the managerial role with pride, stating that he feels fulfilled by his contributions during this time.

“I came here as a coach from the third division, and I’m leaving as a La Liga manager who led the team in Champions League matches. These four months have been an incredible experience and an amazing learning curve for me. I’m leaving with a completely clear conscience,” said Arbeloa.

He acknowledged that the intense pressure to secure trophies at Madrid can be challenging, yet he expressed appreciation for the unwavering support from fans. Arbeloa also addressed rumors regarding the potential return of José Mourinho, whose representatives are reportedly already in Madrid for negotiations. He endorsed Mourinho’s candidacy, emphasizing that the club would benefit from his leadership, and dismissed claims of an unmanageable squad atmosphere.

“For me, as a former player and a Madridista, Mourinho is number one. I thought so a month ago and I’ll always think so. He is and always will be ‘one of us.’ If he takes over Real next season, I’ll be incredibly happy to see him here, at home,” Arbeloa concluded, effectively passing the torch to his former mentor.
