International football is now moving into focus as the domestic season winds down, with several Manchester United players preparing to head into the 2026 World Cup.
The tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada is now just weeks away, and final squads are beginning to take shape across Europe.
One United player has now earned a major call-up after a breakthrough first season at Old Trafford.
Senne Lammens Selected for Belgium’s 2026 World Cup Squad
Senne Lammens has been included in Belgium national football team’s 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, as announced on their website.
National coach Rudi Garcia named the goalkeeper in his final selection for the tournament.
Belgium will first play two warm-up friendlies before traveling to North America.
They face Croatia national football team on June 2 in Rijeka before hosting Tunisia national football team on June 6 in Brussels.
Senne Lammens joins Thibaut Courtois and Mike Penders as Belgium’s three goalkeepers.
The 23-year-old joined Manchester United from Royal Antwerp on deadline day in September 2025.
United paid an initial fee of around £18 million, with the goalkeeper signing a five-year deal.
He arrived with no Premier League experience but quickly established himself as first choice.
Lammens replaced Andre Onana after the former Inter keeper was loaned to Trabzonspor.
That decision has proven important to United’s improvement this season.
Lammens has featured in 30 matches in all competitions during his first season.
He has kept seven clean sheets while producing 75 saves in the Premier League.
His save percentage stands at 67 percent.
Those performances helped steady United’s defence during the second half of the campaign.
The Belgian’s consistency has also earned recognition from former United players.
Owen Hargreaves recently singled Lammens out as United’s best signing of the season.
The former midfielder said, “I’ll tell you who’s probably been the best signing of all of them: Senne Lammens.”
That praise reflects how quickly the goalkeeper has adapted to English football.
With a World Cup now ahead, Lammens’ first year at Old Trafford may only be the beginning of a much bigger rise.
