Benni McCarthy has expressed skepticism regarding Bafana Bafana’s chances in their upcoming World Cup match against South Korea. The South African team is set to play the Taeguk Warriors on Thursday, following a 1-1 draw against Czechia in Atlanta.
McCarthy, currently overseeing the Kenyan national team, emphasized that the match against Czechia was a crucial opportunity for Hugo Broos to secure three points, rather than focusing on the upcoming encounter with South Korea. “I felt there was an opportunity for South Africa to make it a little bit easier for themselves,” he remarked during an interview with BBC Sport.
He further stated, “This was the game I would have targeted to really go for it and get a three points,” highlighting the perceived vulnerability of South Korea based on their previous performance against Czechia. McCarthy concluded, “If we say we have a chance against South Korea…I struggle.”
