Dejan Kulusevski Remains Committed to Tottenham Amid Injury Woes

Tottenham Hotspur faces potential challenges in retaining its top players this summer, especially if the team experiences relegation from the Premier League. However, recent reports indicate that Dejan Kulusevski intends to stay with Tottenham next season, even if they drop down to the Championship.

Kulusevski has yet to make his debut in the 2025/26 season, having been sidelined due to a complex patella injury sustained in May, ahead of last year’s Europa League final. He underwent further knee surgery in February and, while he has not returned to team training yet, he expressed hope at the beginning of April about being part of Sweden’s World Cup squad.

The creative midfielder was recently spotted limping after a minor knee procedure, but reassured fans that it is part of the recovery process. Kulusevski’s absence has been felt significantly by a struggling Tottenham side, with new head coach Roberto De Zerbi unable to utilize the 25-year-old since taking command in March.

De Zerbi Expresses Hope for Kulusevski’s Return This Season

De Zerbi has made it clear that he wants to retain Kulusevski, referring to him as “one of his perfect players” at the club, regardless of potential relegation. However, when questioned about Kulusevski’s fitness for the upcoming World Cup, De Zerbi expressed uncertainty, though he remains hopeful that the midfielder can regain his fitness in time for Graham Potter’s squad.

“I am sorry for him because he is one of my perfect players. He is a very specific player for me, like Kudus, like Romero, but I hope for him he can play in the World Cup because the World Cup for a player is a moment. It is the best period of their career, but I don’t know the situation very well,” De Zerbi said during his press conference (h/t Football London).
