San Jose Earthquakes Sign Forward Darius Johnson Through 2026

The San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday signed forward Darius Johnson through the end of the 2026 season.

The deal with the Grenada international includes options through June 2027 and for the 2027-28 season.

Johnson, 26, was born in England and will occupy an international roster slot with the Earthquakes.

He arrives from Phoenix Rising FC of the USL Championship. On April 15, he played for Phoenix in a 2-0 loss at San Jose in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32.

“Darius caught our eye when he played against us as an attacking player for Phoenix Rising in our U.S. Open Cup match,” Quakes head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena said. “His pace and versatility will help complement our attack, and we welcome him to San Jose.”

Johnson recorded four goals and five assists in 50 appearances (28 starts) across all competitions for Phoenix. Before that, he played for FC Volendam in the Dutch Eredivisie from 2019-24.
