Ivory Coast international Elye Wahi is currently under investigation for alleged misconduct during a league match. Reports indicate that Wahi is suspected of intentionally receiving a yellow card on May 17 during the game between Nice and Metz. According to The Athletic, significant betting activity amounting to several thousand euros was recorded globally in relation to this incident.

The 21-year-old striker was arrested on May 29, following the relegation play-off match in France’s Ligue 1 between Nice and Saint-Etienne. While Wahi has not yet been charged, the investigation was initiated after the Ligue de Football Professionnel received multiple reports regarding suspicious betting activities surrounding the match.

Currently, Wahi is representing the Ivory Coast in the ongoing World Cup, which is being held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
