Even if City win their remaining fixtures, Arsenal can still clinch the Premier League crown by winning all four of their games
Everton stunned Manchester City at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday, holding the domestic treble chasers to a thrilling 3-3 draw. The result adds another twist to the English Premier League 2025-26 title race, which appears set to continue until the season’s final day.
The result was not particularly favorable for Everton, who extended their winless streak to four league games, keeping them three points off European qualification. However, for Manchester City, the draw proved disastrous.
Pep Guardiola’s team now sits five points behind Arsenal at the top of the table, albeit with a game in hand. Even if City manages to win their remaining four league matches, Arsenal will still secure the Premier League title by two points if they win all their games, putting Mikel Arteta’s side in a strong position.
This is what the Premier League points table looks like after the Everton vs Manchester City fixture in Matchday 35:
As it stands, Arsenal lead the table with 76 points from 35 matches. Manchester City follows closely in second place with 71 points from 34 matches. The Gunners hold the upper hand in the title race, although any further dropped points by the top two teams could change everything.
When Can Arsenal Win Premier League Title?
For Arsenal to claim their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season, they have a straightforward task: win their remaining four games. If they do, and assuming City wins all of theirs, the North London side will be crowned champions on the final day of the season.
However, if City falters in any of their next five games, Arsenal could wrap up the title sooner. City faces a challenging schedule with four matches in 11 days, starting with a clash against Brentford on May 9.
If City loses against Brentford and then fails to beat Crystal Palace on May 13, they will no longer be able to catch up with Arsenal, who need a victory against West Ham on May 10. In that scenario, the Gunners would be champions with two games in hand.
Meanwhile, the competition for European spots is heating up. Teams ranked sixth through 11th are separated by only four points, meaning six teams are still vying for the final UEFA Champions League slot, currently held by Aston Villa with 58 points.
At the bottom of the table, Burnley and Wolves have confirmed their relegations. West Ham now occupies the last relegation spot with 35 points, while Tottenham Hotspur has climbed to 17th place following a 2-1 victory over Villa.
