Manchester United‘s former chief scout, Mick Brown, has confirmed that a “final agreement” for Ederson appears to be on the horizon. This development comes ahead of the transfer window officially opening next month, coinciding with the expiration of Casemiro’s contract.

Casemiro Signs Off from United After Four-Year Tenure

The Brazilian midfielder played his last match for Manchester United over a week ago, securing a 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest. This victory allowed Casemiro to receive an emotional farewell from the Old Trafford crowd in his side’s final home game of the season.

To the surprise of many fans, it was mutually agreed between Casemiro and manager Michael Carrick that he would not participate in the match against Brighton and Hove Albion during week 38. As a free agent, Casemiro is nearing a move to Inter Miami and is also focusing on the upcoming World Cup with Brazil, where he will reunite with Matheus Cunha.

INEOS Intensifies Pursuit of Ederson

While Ederson may not have the same European accolades as the five-time Champions League winner he is set to replace, INEOS believes he will be a valuable addition to the team.

The 26-year-old midfielder has played for Atalanta for four years, notably winning the Europa League in a dominant fashion during the 2023/2024 season. His long-standing association with Manchester United has been evident, as the club has consistently monitored his progress over the past two years.

In March, Ederson was close to signing with Atletico Madrid after agreeing to personal terms; however, the Spanish team was unwilling to meet Atalanta’s asking price. This situation has opened the door for Manchester United to initiate negotiations for a potential deal.

Insights from Former MUFC Staff on Ederson

In comments made to Football Insider regarding the ongoing developments, Brown stated: “Manchester United are moving quickly to replace Casemiro. I’m hearing they’re now in the latter stages of agreeing terms with Ederson from Atalanta, and they’re looking to finalize that soon.

“The discussions are centered around a fee between £40 million and £45 million, which seems reasonable since they know they have to invest wisely.”
