South African footballer Siyabonga Ngezana has expressed his disappointment at not being included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which is set to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Ngezana, a former defender for Kaizer Chiefs, was anticipated to be part of the national team following his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Although coach Hugo Broos is expected to officially announce the squad next week, it is common for players to be aware of their selection beforehand.

Lucian Filip, Ngezana’s coach at Romanian club FCSB, revealed over the weekend that the defender is struggling to come to terms with his exclusion. “No, Siyabonga Ngezana was not called up to the World Cup. He is disappointed, but that’s life; football doesn’t end here,” Filip stated in an interview with Antena Sport.

Filip emphasized the importance of respecting club commitments, noting that Ngezana’s presence in the national team’s considerations was influenced by his performances at FCSB. “I hope he will be present at the next Championship,” he added.
