Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly searching for a new head coach amid growing dissatisfaction with their current leader, Kasper Hjulmand. The 54-year-old Danish coach, who has been in charge since September 2025, is set to be dismissed at the end of the season, according to reliable journalist Patrick Berger on X.
The Bayer board’s impatience with Hjulmand stems from a lackluster performance this season, leaving the club sixth in the Bundesliga. Hjulmand has overseen 47 matches, achieving 24 wins, 11 draws, and 12 defeats, and the team faces a significant risk of missing out on next season’s Champions League.
In light of Hjulmand’s impending departure, Bayer has already identified former Flamengo manager Filipe Luís as the top candidate for the head coach position. Additionally, Girona’s Míchel is also under consideration as a potential replacement.
