The Columbus Crew announced via X at 5:38 p.m. today that new manager Henrik Rydström has been relieved of his duties with the club.
Rydström only lasted 14 matches in Columbus, during his tenure, he posted a record of 3W/4D/7L.
This move by the club comes off a four-game winless streak in which the team has been outscored 10 to 5. This decision follows a 1-1 draw against the Philadelphia Union, who currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Columbus currently holds the 13th spot in the Eastern Conference with 13 points, and their playoff hopes are already tenuous just four months into the season.
A new manager has yet to be announced, but many fans are calling for the return of former manager Wilfried Nancy, who previously led Columbus to their first MLS Cup since 2020 and their first Leagues Cup in club history.
Nancy departed the club after the conclusion of the 2025 season to join Scottish Premier League side Celtic.
However, his time at Celtic was brief, as he was removed from his duties after just 33 days.
On their upcoming schedule, the Crew have two more matches before the international break.
They will face New York City FC on Wednesday at ScottsMiracle Gro-Field in Columbus, Ohio, for the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, followed by their final MLS match before the World Cup on Sunday against Atlanta United, also at ScottsMiracle Gro-Field.
That is all the information the club has shared to this point.
