The football community is mourning the loss of former Napoli striker Igor Protti, who passed away at the age of 58. The club announced the news today, revealing that Protti died after a long and arduous battle with a chronic illness.

Protti left a significant mark on the sport, having played for several teams including Napoli, Lazio, Livorno, Bari, and Reggina. He was particularly celebrated for his clinical finishing skills, earning him a loyal fan base.

In addition to his remarkable career, Protti was crowned Serie A top scorer for the 1995/96 season and lifted the Italian Super Cup with Lazio in the 1998/99 season. He retired in 2005, with Livorno being his last club.
