Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has revealed shocking details about his unconventional recovery methods during the club’s historic Premier League title-winning season in 2015/16. In a recent interview, the 39-year-old admitted that he often played matches while under the influence of alcohol, specifically a cocktail of vodka and Skittles.

Vardy recounted how this peculiar mix served as his secret to coping with injuries, despite significant opposition from the club’s medical staff. He shared,

“While I was recovering from an injury, I used my own secret recipe for recovery: I filled bottles with colorful Skittles candies and washed them down with vodka. When the club doctor found out, he nearly lost his mind; he said this drink only made my muscle tears worse. Medically, he was probably right, but that season I became a Premier League champion thanks to this strange vodka mix.”

During the 2015/16 season, Vardy was instrumental for Leicester, scoring 24 goals in 38 matches and providing seven assists, helping the team to clinch the title. He played for Leicester from 2012 to 2025, making 500 appearances and scoring 200 goals in total.

Currently, Vardy is a player for Italian side Cremonese, having made his move in the summer of 2025 for €1.25 million.
