Slovakian coach Josef Vukusic expressed confidence that South Africa can compete effectively against Czechia in their World Cup match scheduled for tomorrow. Vukusic, who has previous experience coaching in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL), highlighted that while Czechia is a formidable team, they may not match the sharpness of a fully prepared South African squad.
The match will take place at the Mercedes Benz Stadium as part of World Cup Group A’s second round of fixtures. Both teams suffered defeats in their opening group games, with Czechia falling 2-1 to South Korea and Bafana Bafana losing 2-0 to Mexico.
In an interview with CTK, as cited by Livesport, Vukusic remarked, “The Czechia team is more experienced and better internationally, but the African mentality is unpredictable. It is an important match for both, perhaps a decisive one in terms of progress.” He added, “The Czechs are also the favourite for me, but a performance like against the Koreans may not be enough if Bafana Bafana shows up at full strength.”
Following their disappointing loss to Mexico at the Azteca Stadium last week, the South African team is eager to secure a victory, which they believe could reignite their World Cup campaign. The match is set to kick off at 6 PM South African time.
