Tottenham Pursues Juventus Full-Back Andrea Cambiaso
Roberto De Zerbi successfully guided Tottenham Hotspur to Premier League safety on the final day of the season, with Spurs securing a 1-0 victory over Everton to maintain their spot in the league, relegating London rivals West Ham.
The Italian head coach recognizes the urgent need for enhanced quality and depth within his squad, especially in defense, as the futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven remain uncertain. The club is keen to recruit a top-tier central defender, while also addressing the need for reinforcement in the full-back positions.
On the right side, Tottenham boasts a strong lineup with Pedro Porro and Djed Spence, but the left-back position presents concerns. Destiny Udogie has struggled with injuries since arriving in N17 in 2023, experiencing another challenging campaign. As the first-choice left-back, his ongoing fitness issues require immediate attention in the coming months.
Tottenham May Acquire Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus
Recent reports indicate that Tottenham has inquired about the availability of Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, who is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
Since returning from a loan spell at Bologna in 2023, Cambiaso has become a key player for Juventus, making 47 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing three goals and five assists. However, with Juventus missing out on Champions League qualification for next season, his future in Turin is uncertain.
According to Italian journalist Gianni Balzarini, Juventus is open to considering summer offers for Cambiaso. He reported concerns regarding the player’s attitude, suggesting that he may not have a future with the club.
“There are certain players who, in my opinion, can no longer stay there, also due to certain attitudes. Cambiaso, with his lack of danger perception—and he even laughs about it, or at least smiles about it—is a player who can no longer stay at Juventus because he no longer has the credibility to give his all for this team, at least from the outside,” Balzarini stated.
Balzarini also mentioned that Juventus would consider selling Cambiaso for an offer around €40m.
“So, if Barcelona’s interest in Cambiaso is confirmed, even at €40-50 million, Juve will pack him up and send him away. That is, because he no longer has the credibility to stay at Juventus. He has tactical intelligence, yes. He has the ability to play inside the pitch as a winger. Yes, but this year he hasn’t performed as well as he should have. Not even him,” he added.

Cambiaso endured an inconsistent season at Juventus, much like his teammates, as the club failed to qualify for the Champions League, impacting its financial situation.
According to Balzarini, the Italian side is willing to let the full-back/wing-back leave if the right offer materializes. Cambiaso possesses the attributes necessary to excel in De Zerbi’s possession-based, aggressive, and attacking style of play. As an attacking full-back known for his versatility, the 19-cap Italian international can function in varied roles, offering the tactical flexibility that Udogie lacks while also providing greater durability.
Therefore, Tottenham is encouraged to test Juventus’ resolve regarding Cambiaso.
