The goalkeeper is coming back.

Following UEFA Euro 2024 on home soil, Manuel Neuer announced his retirement from international football. However, reports suggest that this decision might have been premature.

Details: Insider Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the veteran German goalkeeper is expected to return to the national team for the 2026 World Cup.

It was previously reported that Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi will not be part of the squad, thus missing the opportunity to participate in the upcoming tournament.

Germany is set to kick off their World Cup campaign on June 20 with a match against Curaçao, and will also compete against Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador in the group stage.

Neuer made his debut for Germany on June 2, 2009, in a friendly match against the United Arab Emirates, where Germany won 7-2. He played a pivotal role in the team’s triumph at the 2014 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has already unveiled the final 26-man squad set to represent the Seleção at the tournament.
