Manchester City Takes Lead in Race for Elliot Anderson
Elliot Anderson remains one of the midfielders linked with Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window following the club’s return to the Champions League under Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils are expected to strengthen in midfield this summer.
Casemiro has already confirmed he will leave Manchester United when his contract expires.
This means additions in that area are becoming increasingly likely.
Manchester United have already been linked with several younger midfielders in recent weeks too.
Hertha Berlin teenager Kennet Eichhorn is among the names admired by the club.

However, one of United’s most heavily linked midfield targets could now be edging closer towards another Premier League side.
Manchester City leading race for Elliot Anderson
According to BBC Sport, Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign Anderson from Nottingham Forest this summer.
The report states the England international is presently leaning towards a move to the Etihad Stadium instead of Old Trafford.
Still, no agreement has been reached between the clubs.
BBC Sport adds that Manchester City and Nottingham Forest remain ‘far apart’ in their valuation of the midfielder, meaning negotiations could still become difficult.
Forest reportedly values Anderson extremely highly after his excellent season.
The 23-year-old made 50 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign and established himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
The report even suggests the eventual transfer fee could surpass the £105 million Arsenal paid West Ham United for Declan Rice back in 2023.
Forest manager Vitor Pereira recently admitted he wants to keep Anderson at the City Ground despite increasing speculation surrounding his future.
However, there is growing expectation that if Forest sanctions one major sale this summer, Anderson is the player most likely to leave.
Manchester United remain interested in the midfielder, although BBC Sport claims the club are unwilling to overpay or become involved in lengthy negotiations for his signature.
