According to The Sun, Manchester United is prepared to extend the contract of 40-year-old Tom Heaton, whose current deal is set to expire this summer. The Red Devils are open to keeping the experienced goalkeeper as a part of their plans.
On the surface, this decision might seem unexpected, as Heaton has not appeared in a competitive first-team match since the 2022/23 season. However, within the club, he is regarded as a valuable asset, serving as an important leadership figure in the dressing room and training ground. Heaton meets UEFA squad registration rules as both a homegrown and club-trained player, a significant benefit for teams competing in European competitions.

The report also notes that Heaton has been working closely with young goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who recently returned from a loan spell at Bristol City where he made a positive impression.
