Manchester United Sees Key Players Return from Injury Ahead of Final Matches
Manchester United’s injury situation appears to be improving as players make their way back from injuries, just in time for the final five games of the season.
Leny Yoro made his return from injury during the match against Brentford, coming off the bench in the second half. Patrick Dorgu also made a return to the bench for the match, although he did not see any action.
However, Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined with a back injury. The Netherlands international, who has not taken the field since November, risks missing the World Cup squad if his recovery does not progress soon.
Marc Skinner’s women’s team is also welcoming back players as they approach the season’s end.
Ella Toone was one of the players returning from injury, having come off the bench in the side’s last game against Tottenham Hotspur, which ended in a draw. In Saturday’s match against Brighton and Hove Albion, she made her first start since her injury last December.
Manchester United ended the game in a 1-1 draw, with Lea Schuller scoring a last-minute equalizer to secure a point for Skinner’s side.
Despite this positive development, the outlook remains challenging, as Arsenal holds three games in hand and needs only one win to prevent Manchester United from qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Toone’s return brings a sense of optimism to the squad. Her impact during the first half of the season was notable: she scored three goals and provided eight assists in 22 matches before her injury last year.
If Toone can deliver a strong performance in Manchester United’s final game of the season against Chelsea, the team might conclude the season on a positive note, even if it means finishing without Champions League qualification.
