This afternoon, Orlando Pirates will face a challenging match against Durban City, with the potential to secure the Betway Premiership title should they claim victory.
Assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi is optimistic about today’s encounter at the Orlando Amstel Arena. The Pirates are motivated by their opportunity to be crowned champions, needing just a win from their two remaining matches against Durban City and Orbit College next week.
Currently trailing behind table-toppers Mamelodi Sundowns by three points, a victory today could equal their tally, but their superior goal difference would elevate them to the top of the Premier Soccer League standings. “The emphasis is clear, our process is playing every game. We have played 28, we still have two games to play,” Ncikazi stated ahead of the match.
He acknowledged the challenge posed by Durban City, who are coming off a Nedbank Cup victory and are highly motivated to perform. “We’re just looking at the next game, Durban City, a very tough opponent. It’s not going to be easy,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Ncikazi reiterated the team’s single focus: “The mandate hasn’t changed. We have one responsibility for all of us: to gather three points.” The match is set to kick off at 3 PM.
