Andoni Iraola Expresses Interest in Manchester United and Chelsea Positions

Fabrizio Romano believes Andoni Iraola would be highly interested in taking over Manchester United or Chelsea.

The 43-year-old has announced his departure from Bournemouth at the end of the season, putting an end to a memorable three-year spell at the Vitality Stadium.

The Spaniard’s availability opened the door to several scenarios, especially with multiple top Premier League clubs reflecting on their options.

Iraola’s Career Stats Appearances Average Points
Bournemouth 123 1.41
Rayo Vallecano 136 1.46
CD Mirandés 49 1.45
AEK Larnaca 29 1.62

Andoni Iraola is open to joining Man Utd

Following Liam Rosenior’s sacking, Chelsea will certainly appoint a new manager in the summer to replace the current caretaker, Calum McFarlane.

Liverpool have also been enduring a woeful campaign, so Arne Slot’s future remains shrouded in mystery, with the Merseyside club reportedly ready to part ways with the Dutchman, especially if a convincing successor is to emerge.

Compared to their two aforementioned rivals, Man Utd have been enjoying a significantly more positive campaign, especially since Carrick’s arrival in January.

The 44-year-old managed to steady the ship following Ruben Amorim’s tumultuous 14-month reign. His nine wins from 13 matches catapulted the club to third place in the table, and they’re currently one result away from achieving the season’s main objective: Qualifying for the Champions League.

And yet, INEOS have yet to confirm their current interim head coach beyond June. Carrick is considered the favourite for the permanent role, especially in the absence of available top-notch candidates, but he still has a few challengers for the post.

Earlier this week, The Telegraph identified Iraola as the ‘strongest candidate’ to rival Carrick for the Old Trafford hot seat.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Bournemouth boss would like to extend his time in England. Therefore, he would ‘love’ to take over a top Premier League club like Chelsea or Man Utd.

The transfer market insider notes that Carrick remains in a good spot, especially with the team on the cusp of guaranteeing UCL football. Nevertheless, the club is still expected to hold internal talks before making the final decision.
