South Korea’s coach Hong Myung-bo expressed admiration and respect for South Africa as his team prepares for their crucial final Group A match in the World Cup next Thursday. Following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Mexico, Myung-bo encouraged his players to maintain their hope for advancing to the next round against Bafana Bafana.
Commenting on the recent loss, Hong stated, “The goal we conceded was regrettable, but there is no need to hang our heads.” He further emphasized that despite the disappointing result, he believes the players executed their game plan effectively.
In the current standings, South Korea sits second in Group A with three points, earned from their match against Czechia a week ago. To progress in the tournament, they must secure a victory over South Africa, which Hong noted will require careful tactical preparation as “South Africa is a team with good speed.”
The decisive match is scheduled to take place next Thursday at 3 am South African time.
