The match between Morocco and Egypt took place at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Thursday (08/8) evening IST, as quoted on the official Olympic website

Morocco immediately put pressure on Egypt from the start of the match and attacked through their two wings.

Morocco managed to open a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute through Abde Ezzalzouli’s goal after finishing off Zakaria El Ouahdi’s assist.

Morocco scored their second goal three minutes later, this time Ezzalzouli’s cross was headed home by Soufiane Rahimi to make it 2-0.

The first half ended with Morocco leading 2-0 over Egypt.

Instead of reducing the deficit, Egypt conceded again through Bilal El Khannous’ goal in the 51st minute to give Morocco a 3-0 lead.

Morocco extended their lead to 4-0 in the 64th minute through Soufiane Rahimi. The goal came from Mohamed Tarek’s failure to intercept the ball which was then found by Soufiane Rahimi to finish into a goal.

Morocco extended their lead with a fifth goal in the 73rd minute. This time it was Akram Nakach who got his name on the scoresheet to put Morocco 5-0 up.

It was Achraf Hakimi’s turn to score. His free kick in the 87th minute flew into the top corner of the Egyptian goal.

The match ended with a final score of 6-0 and Morocco won the bronze medal in men’s football at the 2024 Olympics.
