The Argentine authorities have initiated a significant crackdown on child support defaulters by barring them from attending the 2026 World Cup. This unprecedented measure aims to prevent those who neglect their financial obligations toward their children from accessing the event.
In a comprehensive effort, the Argentine government is working to block entry to the World Cup for around 13,000 parents with substantial unpaid child support debts. An official “blacklist” has been submitted to U.S. authorities, who will implement measures through the Fan ID system to restrict these individuals from entering stadiums.
Argentina’s national team is set to compete against Algeria, Austria, and Jordan during the 2026 World Cup. Notably, the leader of the Argentine team will miss the opening match against Algeria.
