The controversy surrounding Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey’s denied Canadian visa has unveiled significant internal conflicts within the Ghana national football team. While the Ghanaian government seeks to address the visa issue through official protests to Canadian authorities, a sense of unrest is reportedly growing among the Black Stars players.

According to MatchDayCentral, the decision by head coach Otis Kahn to include Partey in the final World Cup squad was not fully supported by the team. A faction of experienced players and officials within the Ghana Football Association had initially expressed strong opposition to Partey’s participation, citing concerns about the potential impact of his ongoing legal challenges in the UK and the serious allegations against him. They feared these issues could create media distractions and adversely affect team harmony ahead of critical matches.

As the Canadian authorities have officially blocked Partey from entering the country just before the World Cup opener against Panama, players who were apprehensive about his inclusion are becoming increasingly worried that their predictions of disruption may be coming to fruition.
