Former Senegalese international footballer El Hadji Diouf is facing legal repercussions for failing to pay child maintenance for his minor daughter. The complaint was lodged by his ex-wife, who appeared before the Dakar Magistrates’ Court on March 10, 2026, alleging that Diouf had breached the Criminal Code concerning maintenance obligations.
The ex-wife contended that Diouf’s refusal to comply with a court-ordered child support payment constitutes an intentional offense, as he cannot claim ignorance or insolvency regarding these obligations. The trial proceeded in Diouf’s absence.
Following the court proceedings, Diouf received a one-year suspended prison sentence. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay 10 million CFA francs in damages.
