Inter Milan’s Mkhitaryan Negotiates Potential Contract Extension Amidst Squad Uncertainty

One of the biggest names in that group has strong Manchester United ties and is now facing an important decision about his future in Italy.

<p>Henrikh Mkhitaryan is currently in talks with Inter Milan over a potential one-year contract extension, with the midfielder among five senior players whose deals expire on June 30.</p>

<p>Henrikh Mkhitaryan has enjoyed a strong spell in Italy since arriving at the club in 2022 on a free transfer from Roma, playing a key role in Inter’s recent domestic success, including their Serie A title win this season.</p>
<p>He has made 43 appearances across all competitions this campaign, contributing four goals and three assists as part of another steady season at the top level.</p>

<p>Before his success in Italy, Mkhitaryan also had a notable but turbulent spell at Manchester United after joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.</p>
<p>During his time at Old Trafford, he made 63 appearances, scored 13 goals, and was part of the squad that won both the Europa League and EFL Cup in 2017 before leaving in a swap deal with Arsenal that took Alexis Sanchez in the opposite direction to United in January 2018.</p>

<p>In the book, Mkhitaryan wrote about a heated exchange, stating: “I told him, you’ve been criticising me for a year-and-a-half now, ever since I arrived at Manchester United,” he wrote.</p>

<p>He also recalled Mourinho’s blunt response during their fallout: “‘Mourinho told me I was ‘s***’, and I just lost my temper. ‘You are the s***. An enormous one.’”</p>
<p>According to Mkhitaryan, the confrontation ended with Mourinho’s final words on the matter: “‘Get out of here, I never want to see you again.’”</p>
<p>Now, with Inter’s squad planning underway after their title triumph, Mkhitaryan finds himself at another crossroads, this time deciding whether to extend his stay in Italy or move into a new chapter of his career.</p>
