The US government has taken a firm stance regarding behavior perceived as provocative during international sports events. Iranian forward Mohammad Mohebi has been deported back to Iran following an incident during a World Cup match.

According to FUTA, the 27-year-old winger celebrated after scoring against New Zealand by mimicking shooting gestures towards the spectators. This act was interpreted by US officials as a significant provocation, prompting immediate action.

Reportedly, Mohebi’s gesture was met with disapproval from US authorities, resulting in his swift deportation. However, there has yet to be an official confirmation regarding the status of Mohebi’s deportation.

In the opening match of the World Cup, Iran managed to secure a 2-2 draw against New Zealand, positioning them second in Group G, which also includes Egypt and Belgium.
