Manchester United’s JJ Gabriel Named Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season

JJ Gabriel is quickly becoming one of the hottest prospects in the Manchester United academy, earning him the nickname “kid Messi.”

The 15-year-old has stepped up to Manchester United’s Under-18s, where he held his own as the team finished second in the Under-18s Premier League, just four points behind Manchester City.

In 28 matches, JJ Gabriel scored 26 goals and provided four assists, including two hat-tricks against Derby County and Liverpool, along with braces against Middlesbrough, Wolves, Derby, Nottingham Forest, and Liverpool.

Despite being one of the youngest players on the team, Gabriel was United’s top goal scorer for the season, while left-winger Noah Ajayi came in second with nine goals in 22 games.

Ajayi also placed second in goal contributions with a total of ten across goals and assists, which is a third of Gabriel’s tally.

It comes as no surprise that he has officially been named the Under-18s Premier League Player of the Season.

Upon accepting the award, JJ Gabriel said, “I’m delighted to win this award [Premier League U18 Player of the Season]. I thank my coaches and teammates for helping me win this amazing award.”

He added, “I’d say [the Academy] helped me mature a lot. They help me to be very humble and keep my feet on the ground.

“I’m delighted to be working with him [Fletcher], he’s an amazing coach and has helped me so much this season to become a better player and the best version of myself.”

Given his consistent high-standard performances, many anticipate that the talented teenager will receive an opportunity for a senior debut soon, as he has already secured his spot on the pre-season tour.
