New England Revolution Defeats Minnesota United 2-1 at Home
Luca Langoni scored early in the second half, helping the New England Revolution secure a 2-1 victory against Minnesota United on Saturday night in Foxborough, Mass.
Carles Gil added a penalty kick for New England (8-4-1, 25 points), which maintained an impressive home record of 7-1-0. Goalkeeper Matt Turner made six saves, with three crucial saves in the final 10 minutes, all against headers from Minnesota.
Langoni, who was absent during a 3-0 defeat to Nashville SC earlier in the week, netted his third goal of the season and has now scored in consecutive matches. Before Wednesday’s setback, New England had achieved a club-record six straight wins at Gillette Stadium.
Minnesota (6-5-3, 21 points) found the back of the net through Kelvin Yeboah’s penalty kick. Goalkeeper Drake Callender also stopped three shots during the game.
Langoni’s goal in the 49th minute resulted from a counterattack, with Dor Turgeman providing a precise assist. Langoni unleashed a shot from the right side as he approached the box.
Both teams exchanged penalty kicks within the first 30 minutes in their first meeting since 2023. Gil successfully converted his opportunity just five minutes into the match, while Yeboah equalized in the 26th minute.
The foul leading to New England’s penalty was committed by Minnesota’s Michael Boxall early in the game, while Yeboah’s chance stemmed from a foul on New England’s Brooklyn Raines.
