Manchester United and Liverpool Eye Juventus Winger Francisco Conceicao
Manchester United’s squad rebuild has taken a slightly unexpected turn over the past year.
The club moved away from traditional wide play under Ruben Amorim.
They instead prioritised narrow attackers such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who were signed to fit a 3-4-2-1 system.
That approach also led to significant departures.
Wingers Antony and Alejandro Garnacho were both sold permanently.

However, Amorim’s departure in January has left United in a tactical grey area.
With Michael Carrick stepping in as interim manager and deploying a more conventional 4-2-3-1, the need for natural wingers has quickly become obvious.
Patrick Dorgu and Amad Diallo have filled those roles when available, but depth remains a clear issue heading into the summer window.
Matheus Cunha has recently impressed on the left flank following Dorgu’s injury.
However, Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo are now starting to raise question marks.
This is despite the Cameroonian’s terrific start and Amad being a diamond in the rough last season.
Liverpool also in the race
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, both Manchester United and Liverpool are now targeting Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao.
Liverpool’s interest is driven by the confirmed departure of Mohamed Salah this summer.
The club are actively searching for a right-sided replacement.
United, meanwhile, are looking to rebalance their attack following their tactical shift under Carrick.
Both sides have also been linked with RB Leipzig’s talented winger Yan Diomande.
Why Conceicao fits both clubs
The 23-year-old Portuguese winger has impressed in Serie A this season despite modest headline numbers.
He has registered three goals and four assists in 27 league appearances.
However, his overall influence goes beyond those figures.
He has taken 62 shots with 19 on target, highlighting how frequently he gets into attacking positions.
His expected goals tally of 5.91 suggests he has been slightly unlucky not to score more.
Creatively, he has contributed 29 chances and an expected assists figure of 4.01.
These figures underline his ability to impact games both as a scorer and provider.
Francisco Conceicao is primarily a left-footed right winger who thrives when cutting inside.
He is also capable of operating as an attacking midfielder.
His dribbling stands out too.
The Juventus star has completed 48 successful take-ons at a success rate of just over 52 per cent.
This makes him a constant threat in one-versus-one situations.
Rising profile after Milan display
His recent performances against AC Milan further boosted his reputation.
He outperformed Rafael Leao across key attacking metrics, with Manchester United having sent scouts to watch the forward in that game.
Juventus are aware of the growing interest and are unlikely to sell cheaply.
With both United and Liverpool monitoring closely, this situation could develop quickly as the summer window approaches.
