Most Expensive Football 11
Centre-Forward
This position is occupied by Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman who has recently moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer but the transfer that we are talking about is when he moved to PSG from Monaco for €180 million in 2018.
Left Wing Forward
There is only one true winner of this category and it is Neymar who went from Barcelona to PSG for €222 million. He was valued at more than €100 million than the second placed Eden Hazard on the list.
Right Wing Forward
Ousmane Dembele is the highest paid right winger in the world. He can play on both the wings as he is good with both the feet and broke the record when he moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Attacking Midfield
This space is occupied by the brazilian, Philippe Coutinho who moved from Liverpool to Barcelona for a record fee of €135 million in 2017. He never really settled in Barcelona and got out of the club in 2022.
Central Midfield
This place has been occupied by the Argentine, Enzo Fernandez who joined Chelsea in January 2023, after a spectacular World Cup. The move was completed for a whopping €121.00 million. Declan Rice was a close second who moved to Arsenal from West Ham for €116.60 million.
Defensive Midfield
Joining Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea, is another South American, Moises Caicedo who arrived at the club in 2023 for a transfer fee of €116.00m. Both Enzo and Caicedo form the double pivot in the midfield for Chelsea.
Left Back
Josko Gvardiol recorded the highest transfer fee of €90 million when Manchester City signed him from RB Leipzig in 2023. He has contributed immensely since joining the club and has been an amazing attacking outlet for his side.
Right Back
PSG acquired Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan in 2021 for a transfer fee of €68 million. He is formidable in attack and defence and is known to have deceptive pace that even wingers are not able to match him.
Centre Backs
Now that we are making a full eleven, we need to have two centre-backs. Surprisingly, both of them pair for the centre back partnership now at Manchester United. Harry Maguire was acquired from Leicester City for €87 million in 2019. However Matthijs De Ligt broke the record in 2019 only but at that time he moved to Juventus from Ajax.
Goalkeeper
Kepa Arrizabalaga became the record transfer for a Goalkeeper in 2018 when he moved to Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao. Still a Chelsea player but he is now on loan playing for Bournemouth.
