Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, recently shared his insights regarding the club’s recent performances in an interview with Josep Pedrerol. He emphasized that the accomplishments of the previous season are being underestimated, particularly the club’s victories in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Pérez remarked that it is unrealistic to expect the club to win every trophy consistently. “We have started to underestimate what we have achieved. Last season we won the Club World Cup and the Super Cup. Does that count for nothing? Do we have to win La Liga and the Champions League every single time? Then perhaps the rest of Europe’s clubs should simply give up,” he stated.
In other news, Benfica’s board is reportedly keen to retain their prominent head coach, José Mourinho. To that end, they have extended a new contract offer to him, indicating their intention to keep him onboard amid ongoing speculation.
Real Madrid’s recent campaign has been disappointing, as the club finished a second consecutive season without any titles, which triggered Pérez’s media address at a significant press conference.
