Real Madrid‘s disappointing season, marked by a total lack of trophies, has prompted club president Florentino Pérez to shed light on the underlying issues. In a recent interview with Josep Pedrerol, Pérez suggested that the FIFA Club World Cup significantly disrupted the team’s preparations.

Pérez emphasized that the tournament hindered the club’s ability to undergo a proper pre-season, which he believes is crucial for maintaining peak physical condition. “This year, we at Real Madrid did not achieve the results we wanted, but in my opinion, the root of all these problems lies in the Club World Cup. We did not have a proper pre-season and were unable to restore our physical condition,” Pérez stated.

In addition to discussing the team’s performance, Pérez addressed speculation regarding the potential appointment of José Mourinho as the new head coach of Los Blancos, although he did not elaborate further on this matter.
