Relebohile Mofokeng shared insights from his debut with Bafana Bafana during their match against Czechia last night, revealing the specific instructions given by coach Hugo Broos. Mofokeng entered the game in the second half at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, replacing Oswin Appollis amidst a 1-0 deficit for his side.

“The coach’s instruction was that I must play behind the defensive midfielders, because there was space there,” Mofokeng told SABC Sport. He noted that while the team played well in the first half, they needed to increase their attacking efforts, which they successfully did in the second half.

Mofokeng also reflected on his experience, stating, “Obviously, my first World Cup, my first game. The coach told me to be confident and to believe in myself. He believes in me, so I must believe in myself.” He acknowledged the challenges of playing on such a significant stage and emphasized the importance of self-confidence in overcoming those obstacles.

Discussing the game’s intensity, he added, “I think, yeah, you just need confidence, and you need to believe in yourself. The coach just said, I must play, I must be myself, and just do my best.”
