Tottenham Targets Striker in Summer Transfer Window
Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for Premier League survival will culminate on the final day of the season as they prepare to host Everton, with manager Roberto De Zerbi looking to secure his team’s top-flight status.
Off the field, Tottenham’s management is focused on identifying potential transfer targets. Among the positions they aim to strengthen is that of the striker, following a season where their forwards have struggled to convert opportunities into goals.
Dominic Solanke has managed just three league goals this season, largely due to ongoing injury issues. Richarlison is the club’s leading scorer with 12 goals across all competitions, but past performance suggests he may not consistently provide the firepower needed. Additionally, Randal Kolo Muani has underperformed and is considered one of the less successful signings in recent club history.
Given the current situation, Tottenham is actively seeking a more dependable goal-scorer, which has led to speculation linking them with a former academy player.
Tottenham Competes for AZ Alkmaar Star
According to a report from Soccer News, Tottenham has entered the competition to re-sign Troy Parrott, two years after he was sold to AZ Alkmaar for £6.7 million. Everton, Leeds United, and AC Milan are also pursuing the 24-year-old forward.
Parrott is poised to advance his career following an impressive season in the Eredivisie, where he has scored 31 goals in 48 appearances. His form has attracted attention from various clubs across Europe.
Recent insights suggest that Parrott is open to a return to White Hart Lane this summer, even if Tottenham faces relegation. He joined the club in 2017 and progressed through the youth ranks, making his senior debut at 17 under former manager José Mourinho. He recorded four first-team appearances while being loaned to various EFL clubs throughout his tenure.
Importantly, Tottenham secured a 20% sell-on clause with AZ Alkmaar when they initially sold Parrott, which could allow them to bring him back at a reduced cost. A transfer may become more feasible if the club decides to sell Richarlison, who will enter the last year of his contract this summer.
At present, Tottenham appears to have a slight advantage over Everton, Leeds United, and AC Milan in their pursuit of Parrott.
