Tunisia has become the first African nation to be eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a significant 4-0 loss to Japan in their Group F match at Estadio Monterrey Guadalupe in Mexico.

This defeat marks Tunisia’s second consecutive loss in the tournament, sealing their exit with one remaining group match. They are also the third team overall to be eliminated from the competition, joining Haiti and Turkey.

The North African team entered this critical match following a disheartening 5-1 defeat to Sweden, which prompted a change in management. Sabri Lamouchi was replaced by Hervé Renard just before the encounter with Japan.

Despite the coaching shake-up, Tunisia was unable to turn the tide, suffering another heavy defeat and prematurely ending their World Cup aspirations.
