Current situation at Manchester United
Manchester United would be unhappy with this result, as they produced a solid performance under Ruben Amorim. They were aggressive in their press and showed tenacity. Manchester United have struggled in the Premier league this season as they sit in 14th position in the table.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This season has been not so good for the Red Devils and seems to be the story every single season.
The newly appointed manager, Ruben Amorim has a task in his hand to get the ball rolling but it looks imminent that some players will leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window as the coach has made clear his intentions and his game plan.
The recent feud with Marcus Rashford has seen the latter being sent on loan to Aston Villa till the end of the season. Amorim wasn’t happy with Rashford’s work ethic and had spoken about it in the media.
The Portuguese manager has been cut-throat in his decision making and the ownership of the club is also backing him.

He has also said that many players will be offloaded from the current squad to make space for the new signings that he wants to make.
He has been able to forecast his intense nature on the team as well as they look more likely to attack in numbers and resolute in their buildup. This was visible in the tie against Real Sociedad who are very good on the ball and like to keep it moving.
But Man United played better than Sociedad on the counter
The 1st goal came after United’s dominance in the game when Garnacho carried the ball down the right wing and passed the ball into the box for Zirkzee on the edge, who fired in a low strike in the back of the net to give the visitors the lead.

Penalty changed the game
This celebration was cut short in the 70th minute when a penalty was given against Manchester United’s Captain Bruno Fernandes in the penalty area. This penalty changed the game as Spanish saviour Mikel Oyarzabal slotted it in with ease.
After this, it was Real Sociedad who ran the show. The Red Devils were once again tired and sluggish after the 70th minute mark and looked slow in front of the Spanish team. The substitutes of Real Sociedad attacked with real intent.
Sheraldo Becker looked like a livewire on the Right hand side and beautifully presented 2 crosses into the box, one of which should have been a goal for Orri Oskarsson who missed a sitter.
2nd leg at Old Trafford
The game ended in a draw and the 2nd leg will be played next week at Old Trafford. The tie is all to play for and both the teams will be looking to advance to the quarter finals of the Europa League.
